Map Switch Stealth vs. Clean: Which One Suits You?
Stealth, Clean or KTM's stock switch: how the multi-map switches work, how many maps they reach and who each one suits.
October 25, 2026 by Leo Efimow
If you choose multi-map for your motorcycle tune, you need a map switch. Without one, the ECU cannot know which of the four maps you want to ride. The configurator offers three ways: our Stealth, our Clean, or a switch you already have, typically KTM's stock switch. There is deliberately no default; you decide. Here are the differences and some help choosing.
How a map switch works technically
The Keihin ECU 812.41.031 has two inputs for map selection. Depending on which one is switched, it activates one of the four map banks:
| Input 1 | Input 2 | Active map |
|---|---|---|
| off | off | map 1 |
| on | off | map 2 |
| off | on | map 3 |
| on | on | map 4 |
A switch that can operate both inputs independently therefore reaches all four maps. A switch that only toggles one position reaches only two. The ECU takes over the change at idle or on restart.

Stealth: hidden and affordable
Stealth is a 4-way rotary switch in a 3D-printed housing. Each position of the knob corresponds to one map, so you reach all four directly. You hide the switch in the bodywork wherever you like, for example under a side panel or near the seat.
- Pros: inconspicuous, all four maps, affordable (+€40)
- Cons: not waterproof, no switching from the handlebar while riding
Stealth suits you if you tend to pick your map before riding, say before training or before loading the bike into the van, and do not want to switch constantly. As it is not waterproof, it should sit in a protected spot. With water crossings and frequent pressure washing it is not the first choice.
Clean: robust on the handlebar
Clean is an aluminium handlebar switch with two buttons, waterproof to IP67. Nothing pressed is map 1, button 1 is map 2, button 2 is map 3, both together are map 4.
- Pros: all four maps from the handlebar, waterproof to IP67, robust
- Cons: more expensive (+€80), visible on the handlebar
Clean suits you if you switch more often while riding, for example between a stock map for slippery sections and a power map for fast stretches. For enduro and motocross with mud, water and wash bay it is the more robust solution.
KTM stock switch: if you already have one
Many KTM and Husqvarna models already have the stock switch with part number 77239974200 on the handlebar, or it can be retrofitted. It fits KTM and Husqvarna models 2011–2017 and works with our multi-map files. In the order you then choose "I already have one".
The stock switch has two positions on the handlebar. In position 1 you ride map 1, in position 2 the map you select on the rotary switch for the base setting. That rotary switch sits in the airbox or under the seat depending on the model. From the handlebar you therefore reach two maps, the others only via the rotary switch.
For many riders that is enough. If you ride map 1 stock and put power and party mode on map 2, you need exactly two positions.
Side-by-side comparison
| Stealth | Clean | KTM stock switch | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maps directly reachable | 4 | 4 | 2 from the handlebar |
| Operation | rotary knob, hidden | 2 buttons on the handlebar | button on the handlebar + rotary switch |
| Waterproof | no | yes, IP67 | stock part |
| Price | +€40 | +€80 | already fitted |
| Availability | pre-order | pre-order | usable right away |
Important: Stealth and Clean are in development
Both of our own switches are still in development. You can pre-order them with the tune. Once they are built and have passed testing, we send yours for retrofitting and let you know by email. We deliberately do not give a fixed date.
In practice this means: until your switch arrives, the ECU runs the map that is active without a switch, which is map 1. If you want to use multi-map right away, get KTM's stock switch; then it works from the next appointment. Map switching by smartphone has also been announced as an additional option.
Which one suits you?
- You rarely switch and want it inconspicuous: Stealth.
- You switch while riding, in any weather: Clean.
- You already have the KTM switch and need two maps: stock switch, no extra cost.
- You want all four maps, but now: stock switch now, Stealth or Clean later.
Ordering
You choose the switch in the motorcycle configurator as soon as you activate multi-map (€230); the switch price is added on top. The ECU is programmed on site in Stödtlen or after you send it in. Which models fit is listed on the ECU page. Remember: all tuning functions are intended exclusively for motorsport, and changing the software voids the type approval. Details in the motorsport notice.
Conclusion
The map switch determines how conveniently you use multi-map. Stealth is the affordable, hidden solution for occasional switching. Clean is the waterproof handlebar solution for anyone who switches on the move. KTM's stock switch is usable right away and covers two maps. More on the principle in the glossary under map switch.
